The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) was developed from the 1990s as Mumbai's modern central business district. It now hosts the National Stock Exchange of India (Asia's largest stock exchange by trade volume in many years), the Indian Securities and Exchange Board (SEBI), and the offices of every major Indian bank, broker, and global investment bank operating in India.

Origin

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority began master-planning BKC in the 1980s as overflow from Nariman Point. The NSE moved to BKC's Exchange Plaza in 1995.
