Stamford

The trading-floor commute — UBS and RBS built two of the largest floors ever here.

Stamford, Connecticut is the secondary trading-floor cluster for greater New York. UBS's Stamford trading floor (now downsized) was once the largest in the world and Royal Bank of Scotland built one almost as large just down the street. The city remains home to Point72, Synchrony Financial, and the US offices of several European banks.

Origin

Built up in the 1990s when New York banks chased lower rents and the Connecticut state tax differential; the result was a remarkable concentration of mega-floors along Washington Boulevard.
