Boston Financial District

Mutual-fund central — Fidelity's home, and one of the oldest US clusters.

Boston's Financial District, anchored by Post Office Square and Federal Street, is the headquarters of Fidelity Investments, State Street, MFS Investment Management and Wellington Management. It was the original cradle of the US mutual-fund industry — the first open-end mutual fund (Massachusetts Investors Trust, 1924) was launched here — and remains one of the largest passive- and active-management hubs outside New York.
