Fidelity Basket Portfolios are an underused feature. Most people who know they exist either never get round to building one, or build one by hand and never rebalance it. Arithmos sits in front of Basket Portfolios as the construction and maintenance layer.
The flow
- Describe the basket. Example: "S&P 500 quality factor with high FCF yield and a 5% cap per name."
- Arithmos returns the holdings, the weights, the rationale, and a multi-decade backtest against SPY.
- Export to Fidelity Basket. You get a CSV in the columns Basket Portfolios accepts.
- Open Basket Portfolios at Fidelity, Add Securities, upload the CSV. Review and submit.
Why this beats building a Basket by hand
- Auditable rules rather than gut-feel picks.
- Built-in screens for quality, value, low-vol, FCF yield, balance-sheet strength.
- Backtested before you put any money in.
- Re-run the screen on a schedule and load the refreshed CSV without rebuilding from scratch.
- Tax-loss harvesting overlays available as a separate prompt if you want them.
Dividend Aristocrats ex-tobacco, equal-weighted across the surviving names, rebalanced annually.
Fees
Arithmos charges the subscription. Fidelity charges what Fidelity charges. Basket Portfolios fees apply at the broker, we are not in that price stack.
FAQ
Will the export load into Fidelity Basket Portfolios?
Yes. Arithmos generates a CSV in the columns the Basket Portfolios interface accepts: ticker, weight, side. Open Basket Portfolios, choose Add Securities, upload. Holdings and weights come across in seconds.
Does this work in a Fidelity IRA?
Yes. Basket Portfolios are supported in taxable brokerage and IRA accounts. Dividends and gains stay inside the IRA wrapper. Arithmos does not need access to your Fidelity login, it only builds the file you upload.
How does the rebalance work once it is in the Basket?
Fidelity rebalances when you tell it to. Arithmos can re-run the same rules on a schedule and produce a refreshed CSV. You upload the new file and accept the trades.
