Paseo de la Reforma

Mexico's banking spine — Reforma's tower line and the BMV.

Paseo de la Reforma is Mexico City's grand financial boulevard. It hosts Banco de México (Mexico's central bank), the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), and the headquarters of BBVA México, Banorte, Citibanamex, and Santander México. The skyline along Reforma — Torre BBVA, Torre Mayor, Torre Reforma — is the most recognisable cluster of skyscrapers in Latin America after São Paulo's Faria Lima.

Origin

Reforma was laid out in the 1860s under Emperor Maximilian I as Mexico City's grand axis. Banking towers gradually filled in from the 1980s; Torre Mayor (2003) was Latin America's tallest building when it opened.
